Meet the Superintendent

Meet the new United Superintendent, Marc Snavely

We would like to welcome Marc Snavely, who assumed the role as Superintendent at United Community this week. The United Community School Board held a Special Meeting on Tuesday afternoon and approved a Superintendent Sharing Agreement with Colo-NESCO. Marc is in his third year of serving as the Superintendent/Elementary Principal at Colo-NESCO. He will be giving up the elementary principal role at Colo-NESCO at the end of the first semester when they are able to move some staff members around to place a full-time principal in their elementary building. Marc will spend 70% of his time at Colo-NESCO and 30% of his time at United Community.

Marc has been married to his wife, Kelly, for twenty seven years. She works at Mom's Meals in Ankeny and also subs at Colo-NESCO a couple times a week as needed. Marc & Kelly have a daughter, Kerrington, who is an occupational therapist at Grant Wood AEA in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area. They also have a son, Max, who is a seventh grader at Colo-NESCO.

Marc has been in the District a few times now already, has met with many staff members, and is excited to get to know everyone in the near future. He is looking forward to his new role as superintendent in this shared role. Marc can be reached by email at msnavely@united.k12.ia.us or by phone at 515-432-5319.

Mr. Snavely

I think United Community School is so awesome because of its people and traditions, such as friendsgiving and mileage club. They care so deeply about you and will make you happy. I have made so many memories and friends here and will never forget this place. It is such an awesome place to learn and explore and most important to have fun.
