I teach 5th and 6th grade Reading. We use novels as well as the basal textbook. One day a week is designated as a free reading day. The students are required to do a book report once a quarter.

 

  • Quarterly Book Report                                 Due: Wednesday, May 14

     

    Expectations:

     

    Each quarter you are required to read at least one book and complete a book

    report on it. You may choose which book report you would like to do, but

    you may only do a book report type once per school year. The book report is

    worth 35 points. Each book report must include the following: Title, Author, Characters, Setting, Problem, Solution, Ending, and your thoughts or review of the book (would you recommend this book).

     

    Every Friday is “Free Read Friday”. Mrs. Lindgren will meet with each student to document the book and progress of their reading. Fridays will be designated the time to work on Book Reports at school. This work time will be monitored and graded on the rubric for the book report.

     

    Book Report Choices:

     

    1.) Book Trailer              www.prezi.com

    You will create a book trailer like a movie trailer retelling about the book you

    have read.

     

    2.) Animated Movie Retell               www.goanimate.com

    You will animate your book into a short retell of the movie.

     

    3.) Video Newscast

    You are a news anchor and you are discussing a new book that has been

    released at your local library.

     

    4.) Newspaper Article

    You will write an article about the book you read.

     

    5.) Marketing Ad

    You can create a power point trying to sell your book to local book stores.

     

    6.) Interview the Main Character

    You will write up interview questions to ask the main character of your story

    and you will write questions as if you were the main character.

     

    7.) 3D Story Retell                www.zooburst.com

    You can do a 3D retell video of your story.

     

    8.) Retell Poster

    You will create a retell poster of your story.

     

    9.) Other: Discuss with Mrs. Lindgren ahead of time for approval.
